After working at Standard Bank for 20 years (many of which were spent dealing with investment institutions), I realised that I wanted to get closer to the coalface of investments and interact more with personal clients. Excalibur Wealth then invited me to join them and for 18 years, I’ve guided clients through the minefield of personal investments and helping them plan their financial futures. I aim to not only ensure that they meet their financial goals, but also help them understand the reasons for my recommendations. It’s important for them to know what I can and can’t do – and what to expect from their portfolios over the long term. I focus on long-term investments and truly enjoy developing relationships with my clients, getting to know them and their families, and updating their investment strategies as their lives unfold. My special interests include our family’s pets and the many cats and kittens we rescue and rehabilitate, as well as our regular visits to the bush. When these interests overlap with those of my clients, strong friendships often develop – which is a special bonus for me.

I hold BCom Finance and BCom (Honours) degrees in Financial Planning from the University of Johannesburg, and was also an avid rugby player in-between my studies. My career started in 2015 at Excalibur Wealth as a Trainee Advisor, and I obtained a Certified Financial Planner® designation as part of my internship. My aim is to assist clients in understanding their financial needs. Since joining Excalibur Wealth, I’ve continuously endeavoured to do this, and help clients to find appropriate solutions to meet their needs and goals over the long term.

My specialties are in dealing with technical and complex financial situations, particularly those relating to local and offshore trusts. I like developing long-term relationships with clients and it gives me great pleasure to get to know them on a personal level. I also enjoy learning new things from their life experiences – both personal and financial. My special interests include my family’s love for sport, nature and wildlife. We love exploring, and visit game farms and camp as often as possible.

I founded Excalibur Wealth in 1999 after gaining extensive and varied corporate experience in financial services. I hold a number of academic qualifications and designations, including an MBA (the University of Cape Town), specialising in finance and investments, as well as a Postgraduate Diploma in Financial Planning (the University of the Free State) and the Certified Financial Planner® designation. It’s my personal philosophy – and that of our firm – that things worth doing should be done well, and that good is the enemy of great.

I further believe that trust is earned through consistently delivering on expectations. It's incredibly stimulating and gratifying for me to solve clients’ problems and help them plan for their future. I’ve gained valuable experience in assisting wealthy families to optimally structure and manage their wealth. I love what I do and am passionate about investing and people – including the talented Excalibur Dream Team. On a personal level, I value time with my family and enjoy a glass of wine, travel and the great outdoors.

I started working at Excalibur Wealth in 2006 as the first graduate intern and was fortunate enough to find a home at a firm which upholds good values, shares my passion for making a difference and strives for excellence. There’s a synergy of goals and work ethic, and clients’ interests are always placed first.

I’m both grateful and proud to be part of the team as a wealth advisor, as well as a member of the management team. I hold a BCom degree and a Certified Financial Planner® designation. Family is important to me – I married my high school sweetheart and we have three beautiful girls. As a youngster, I was a talented junior sportsman and I remain a passionate sports fan. Exercise is part of my daily regime and I believe it’s a valuable investment to devote time and energy to one’s physical wellbeing.
